The team at Silverado Hospice San Diego is dedicated to providing dignified, compassionate end-of-life care, whether by helping patients and families directly or through our work helping spread awareness in the community and beyond. Our belief is that how a person leaves the earth is as important as how they spent their life upon it, so we provide personalized medical, social and spiritual care to let patients experience life to the fullest and allow their families a chance to create cherished memories.

From hosting community outreach events and workshops to working with interns from local colleges and universities, our goal is to provide the best quality of life possible, share the message of kindness with our community and play our part in advancing the field of hospice care .

  • Care is provided in the location of the patient or family’s choosing (if the location is suitable for any special medical needs): in-home, at a hospital or facilities such as assisted living communities. Surroundings play a vital role in comfort, and comfort is the main focus of Silverado Hospice’s philosophy.
  • The Silverado Hospice team includes specialists to cover both physical and spiritual comfort of clients – highly-trained, specialized staff provides palliative care, focusing on relieving and preventing suffering, while spiritual counselors and other staff to help ease emotional difficulties for both patient and family.
  • Hospice team includes Attending Physician, Hospice Medical Directors, Social Worker, Spiritual Counselor and other skilled personnel to help at all stages of hospice.
  • Staff specially trained in the challenges of Alzheimer’s. Parkinson’s. L ewy body and other types of dementia .
  • Thorough caregiver screenings, including a background check, drug test and an integrity test, ensure that families can focus on their loved ones without distractions or worries about the quality of caregivers.
  • Partnership with We Honor Veterans to meet the special hospice needs of those who have served in the military.
  • Memory Catchers program provides the patient an opportunity to share in a lifetime of memories and experiences for their family.
  • Essential Oils program, a safe, natural way to calm, soothe and increase circulation while helping to reduce the usage of certain medications.
  • Student internship program
  • Outreach programs for the community, nonprofit organizations and the homeless
  • Petals for Patient program where community partners donate flowers, supplies and provide volunteers to make floral arrangements which are then delivered to hospice patients.
  • Transitions™ is a standalone program that complements palliative care, home health and hospice services. The program offers a full spectrum of volunteer-driven resources and support to individuals with a life limiting illness and their families.
  • Bereavement groups and workshops allow different ways to help families deal with grief.
  • 5 and 7-day guarantees to ensure smooth transition and strong communication between Silverado and families.
  • National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) accredited.
  • Newly launched Dementia Care Certification program for caregivers that requires extensive classroom and hands-on training.
  • Accredited by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Health Organizations (JCAHO), the nation’s leading health care standards-setting and accrediting organization.

Over the last month, Silverado Hospice San Diego associates have been collecting donations in an effort to support a local stand-down.

Silverado Hospice partners with the Alpha Project for the Homeless to provide end-of-life care to the homeless.

In the spirit of the holiday season, hospice staff and interns visited Mama’s Kitchen to help prep and pack food.

The Hospice team values the opportunity to honor our nations veterans in these simple, yet meaningful ceremonies to commemorate their service.
